Jakarta, 14 October 2017 - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. (Kalbe) today presents the award for the 9 leading winners and 1 favorite winner of the Kalbe Junior Scientist Awards 2017. The KJSA 2016 award presentation which is held at the Ancol Art Market Jakarta; and was delivered by Vidjongtius, as the President Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, and L.T. Handoko as the Chairman of the Board of Juries of KJSA 2017. Three days prior, the 18 participants have presented their projects in front of the juries. KJSA is an appreciation program for the best science works in Indonesia for the elementary school level. The award has the purpose of growing the creativity of Indonesian children through science work in the fields of integrated science, applied technology, and mathematics.

'Kalbe consistently wishes to introduce the world of science to the Indonesian people, specifically children. Through this initiative, we want to encourage children to have the love and courage to experiment in the science fields since early days,' said Vidjongtius, Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk.

'The criteria used in the judgment are creativity, innovation, originality without setting aside integrity values, which means the idea of the project is the idea of the child themselves,' said Dr. L.T. Handoko, Deputy of Technical Sciences, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) as the Chairman of the Juries of KJSA 2017. 'The science projects that they produced are expected to be a solution to solve problems the children may have in their own environment,' Handoko added.

'From the first time held in 2011, KJSA continuously showed an increase of science project registered,' said dr. Iwan Surjadi Handoko, Committee Chairman of the KJSA 2017. 'This year, 1,103 science projects from 374 schools and science clubs from 28 provinces in Indonesia have been submitted. There is an increase of 20 percent for projects compared to 2016,' added dr. Iwan.

The 9 Primary Winners of KJSA 2017 are 1) Prajna Wijaya & Evan Varellino from SDS Narada West Jakarta with project Drop Free Toothbrush for Toddlers and Elderly, 2) Roffifah Yusriah Putri & Annisa Ramadhani Fatkhurahman from SDIT Insantama Bogor with the project Laser-Based Prayer Row Marking, 3) Ahmad Faqih Amin& Heiko Rendra Novianandita from SD Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah 01 Purwokerto with the project CT (Blow-up Charger ), 4) Muhammad Attariza Wanggono & Wafiq Dinda Agustin from SDIT AT - Taqwa Surabaya with project Doc -Nyek (Auto baby milk maker), 5 Aang Maulana & Ahada Angkasa Pura from SD Unggulan Al-Ya'Lu Malang with the project Ki Pesat (Satay Grill Fan).

Followed by 6) Juan Carlo Vieri & Eugenia Aileen Putrijaya from SD Intan Permata Hati Surabaya with the project Device to Shorten Queue Time to Order Food at School Cafeteria, 7) Idelle Ariqa & Dustin Raka Widiananta Aslam from SMPN 1 Sanggau, Kapuas Hulu with the project ACAKESA (Application of Boiler Ash and Empy Husks of Palm Fruit) as Nutrient for Red-Yellow Soil (PMK), 8) Angelina Abigail Saputro & Natasya Agelina Pali from Santo Nicholas School Medan with the project Biodegradable Plastic and 9) Calvinus Alexander Graham DC & Carlos Luther Dina Charis from D'Rec Robotics Sains School Jepara with the project EMPATI (Four Fragrances in One Heart). The Favorite Winner title is given to Prajna Wijaya & Evan Varellino from SDS Narada West Jakarta with the project Drop Free Toothbrush for Toddlers and Elderlies.
