Outlines of Kao's activities

In 2008, Kao published "the Kao Group Health Declaration" based on the principle that without healthy employees, the Company cannot achieve its objective of Yoki-Monozukuri, which allows the Group to grow and contribute to society. Currently, with the goal of increasing the number of employees with high health literacy, Kao is engaged in "health management" which uses a PDCA cycle to increase employee health levels. As part of the initiatives, Kao compiled health data since fiscal 2008 in "the Kao Group Health White Paper" to identify issues and examine measures, and then formulated its mid-term plan for health in 2010. To promote employees' health, Kao has been involved in organizational initiatives such as establishing a cooperative framework by an employer, the health insurance union, industrial healthcare staff and external specialists.

For enhancing employees' health level, Kao has been promoting a broad range of measures to establish a health-conscious corporate culture including a walking campaign that started in fiscal 2012 held annually in spring before the health checkup, a campaign every employee can join; implementation of special healthcare guidance directed at employees aged 35 and older, resulting in completion of the guidance program by 70% of employees; and launch of an event to measure visceral fat starting fiscal 2011, which to date has been carried out 27 times and attended by a total of 5,539 employees.

The honor of being selected as a "health and productivity management brand" can be attributed to the high evaluation of the Company's actions and their results. Kao will continue to make efforts to maintain the physical and mental health of employees and to contribute to realizing the enrichment of the lives of people through Yoki-Monozukuri by taking the perspectives of consumers and customers.
