Kao : included by FTSE4Good Index for the 9th Consecutive Year

Kao Corporation today announced its inclusion in the FTSE4Good Global Index for the ninth consecutive year. The FTSE4Good Global Index is a leading global social responsibility investment (SRI) index designed to evaluate the performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. It serves as an important SRI standard for global investors concerned about corporate social responsibility and sustainability criteria.
Kao received the highest rating for the corporate governance category and was also rated highly for its environmental initiatives. Kao released its first Report Concerning Corporate Governance in July 2015, and has focused on improving and maintaining its management structure and internal control system to achieve continual enhancement of corporate value. Also, after announcing its Environmental Statement in 2009, Kao has been promoting environmental activities under the theme 'eco together,' involving its customers, business partners and society.

Kao Corporation specializes in manufacturing and marketing of consumer products. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by family of products as follows:
- care and beauty products (44.4%): body care products (soap, shower products), face care (brand Bioré) and hair care (shampoo, colorants, etc.; Asience, Liese, Curél and Essential);
- house cleaning and laundry care products (22.7%): detergents (brand Attack), dishwashing liquids, cleaners, stain removers, etc.;
- chemical products (21.6%): oleo chemical products (fat alcohols, fat amines, fat acids, etc.), inks, colorants, surfactants, etc. ;
- hygiene products (11.3%): feminine protection products (brand Laurier), diapers (Merries), oral hygiene products, etc. The group is also providing food products.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Japan (58%), Asia (22%), America (10.5%) and Europe (9.5%).
