Vienna/Warsaw, November 23, 2015 - Kapsch TrafficCom AG (ISIN AT000KAPSCH9), listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in the prime market segment, has developed and released a smartphone app for viaTOLL, the national tolling system in Poland. Created and operated by Kapsch TrafficCom, viaTOLL is one of eight nationwide electronic tolling systems in Europe. The new mobile app can be downloaded for free for iOS and Android systems, and enables private car and truck users to check the balance of their viaTOLL account, add credit, and locate Customer Service Facilities.

User-centered development

Kapsch has developed the app in cooperation with the Polish road authority Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad (GDDKiA), with the aim of providing road users with more services and transparency in the tolling process. Kapsch and GDDKiA have regularly conducted awareness and satisfaction surveys since the launch of the nationwide tolling system viaTOLL in July 2011, to determine preferred forms of communication, ways of payments and suggestions in case of account management amenities. Based on the research, specific needs have been defined, resulting in development of 'e-note' (electronic monthly statement including all transactions) and SMS account check. Furthermore, the research clearly showed that drivers and transport companies both use mobile devices, hence the collaborative launch of the GDDKiA and Kapsch app dedicated to easier management of the viaTOLL accounts. The free app is in response to new market trends and our users' requirements. 'We see a growing need to make traffic management and tolling more user-centered,' states Georg Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom. 'Smartphones are an integral part of everyday life, so we are constantly seeking ways to integrate mobile devices into our traffic management solutions to offer real added value services to road-users.'

Multi-functional application

Users can download the software since November 18. The viaTOLL app is available for Android and iOS systems, with a Windows version currently under development. The app can be used for both smartphones and tablets, as it automatically adjusts to the screen size of the device. The app allows users to access information regarding the prepaid account balance, the option to top up the account using a credit or a fleet card, setting up a route to the nearest Customer Service Facility, as well as a summary of the most important information on the road user's contract.

High data security standard

The viaTOLL mobile app meets highest security standards, comparable to those used for mobile banking applications. Additionally, the app has been equipped with several functionalities to ensure the highest level of personal data protection, as well as transaction security. The developers have applied automatic logging-out procedure after specific time, SSL encryption and automatic blockade after 20 unsuccessful logging attempts.
