Vienna/Santiago de Chile, September 30, 2015 - Kapsch TrafficCom AG (ISIN AT000KAPSCH9), listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in the prime market segment, informs that it has secured a new contract in Chile through a subsidiary company. Kapsch TrafficCom will execute the provision of the tolling system and ITS (Intelligent Transport System) for the first 15 km of the Ruta 5 Norte, located in the North of Santiago operated by Sociedad Concesionaria Autopista del Aconcagua (SCADA). This project further extends the usage of tolling and ITS ctechnology of the Austrian ITS-specialist in the famous Pan-American Highway. Counting the recent order awarded last month, this will be the seventh continuous highway concessionaire to adopt solutions by Kapsch. The contract value amounts to approximately 20 million euros, including maintenance services.

The project comprises all the technology needed to upgrade a highway-section into the urban standard of Santiago, including 10 MLFF (multi-lane free-flow) gantries, an ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) back office, a conventional manual tolling system, a full ITS solution including an Advanced Traffic Management System, a control center, a communication system, a video monitoring system (CCTV), a video wall, emergency telephones, traffic detectors, weather stations and variable message signs. These solutions allow road authorities to manage, monitor, and maintain their highways whilst providing motorists with relevant traffic information needed for a safe and convenient trip.

'This project is an excellent demonstration of Kapsch TrafficCom's successful transformation from a provider of electronic toll collection systems to an expert in the field of intelligent transportation systems. It highlights the confidence that Chilean Operators have in Kapsch's established and sophisticated tolling technology, whilst at the same time, paving the way for our organization to become a leader in the ITS segment in the Latin-American market,' says André F. Laux, Chief Operating Officer, Kapsch TrafficCom.

Thus, Kapsch TrafficCom further strengthens its position in Chile as the leading supplier in the electronic tolling business. This is the third contract this year to upgrade tolling technology in the Pan-American Highway which passes through Santiago de Chile which Kapsch TrafficCom will manage from its local office in Santiago de Chile.
