Responsibility towards the community where we operate is one of the focus areas of Kemira's corporate responsibility. Related activities have been done globally at Kemira sites since 2013.

The target of community involvement is that by 2015, each Kemira site that employs over 50 people would have participated in a local community involvement initiative at least once. At the moment Kemira has 25 sites with over 50 employees and of them 48 % have already reached the target.

Kemira as a part of a safe community

"The aim of the community involvement is to actively build good relationships with the communities in which we operate in. For example open doors and family days at Kemira plants are one way to demonstrate that we operate responsibly and are a safe part of the local community. From employee point of view it's also important that people get the chance to take part in local initiatives and contribute by doing good for the communities", says Tii Salmela, Communications specialist, who is responsible for Kemira's community involvement activities.

In 2013 Kemira employees and sites implemented several activities globally, such as open doors and family days at plants, co-operation with schools and student groups, donations and participation in charity work as well as work for a cleaner environment.
