Kemper Corporation (NYSE: KMPR) announced today that it appointed C. Thomas Evans, Jr. as Kemper’s General Counsel. Evans will report directly to Donald G. Southwell, Kemper’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. In conjunction with this promotion, Kemper also promoted Nan Hoff to Deputy General Counsel, reporting to Evans. These moves follow the previously announced planned retirement of the company’s former General Counsel, Scott Renwick, at the end of June 2015.

In addition, the company announced today the promotion of Kemper’s Chief Investment Officer, John Boschelli, to Senior Vice President from Vice President. Boschelli will continue to report to Southwell.

“Tom has been an integral part of our legal department for 23 years, and brings valuable insights from his most recent role as Associate General Counsel and Secretary. Additionally, Nan has contributed greatly in her role as Associate General Counsel and most recently as Interim General Counsel for Kemper. She did an outstanding job in this capacity,” said Southwell.

“John’s leadership of Kemper investments has enabled us to deliver excellent portfolio returns despite the low interest rate environment. We are pleased to promote John to the Senior Vice President level as he continues to lead investments. I look forward to the contributions from each of these senior executives,” concluded Southwell.
