Kemper Corporation (NYSE: KMPR) announced today that it estimates that its first quarter 2016 results will include pre-tax catastrophe losses in the range of $35 million to $45 million. The company does not expect to recover any of these losses under its catastrophe reinsurance program. While the losses were related to a number of storms, the company noted that one hail storm in north Texas on March 23 heavily impacted its policyholders in that area.

After the markets close on Thursday, May 5, Kemper will issue its first quarter 2016 earnings release and financial supplement and will also file its quarterly report on Form 10-Q with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”). Following their publication, these documents will be available on the investor section of kemper.com.

Kemper will host its conference call to discuss first quarter 2016 results on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern (10:00 a.m. Central). The conference call will be accessible via the internet and by telephone at 866.393.1565.
