Keppel Land is named Most Admired ASEAN Enterprise

Keppel Land Limited (Keppel Land) has been named the region's Most Admired ASEAN Enterprise under the corporate excellence category (large size company) at the ASEAN Business Awards. The Company also clinched the National Award for Corporate Excellence (large size company).

Into its seventh year, the award ceremony took place in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, yesterday evening in the presence of H.E. U Thein Sein, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

The ASEAN Business Awards recognise companies that have made significant contributions to ASEAN's economic growth and progress in terms of its growth, employment, innovation and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Organised by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the award ceremony was held in conjunction with the 11th ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2014. This is the third time Keppel Land has been recognised for its contribution to the growth of the ASEAN economy. The Company was named the region's Most Admired ASEAN Enterprise under the CSR category in 2010 and 2013.

Keppel Land has a sterling portfolio of award-winning residential and investment-grade commercial properties, as well as hotels and resorts. It is geographically diversified in ASEAN, with significant presence in seven countries namely, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia. About 56% of Keppel Land's total assets and 73% of its net profit (excluding fair value and divestment gains) were derived from its projects in these ASEAN countries in 2013.

With over 3,900 staff employed across 12 countries, Keppel Land advocates meritocracy via its localisation strategy for positions in its overseas offices. In 2013, locals accounted for 62% of all department heads positions at its overseas offices.

Recognising that corporate excellence is an ongoing journey, Keppel Land seeks guidance from internationally-recognised standards, including the United Nations Global Compact and International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standards such as ISO 9001 on quality management, ISO 14001 on environmental management, ISO 26000 guidance on social responsibility as well as OHSAS 18001 on occupational health and safety management.

In reporting on its progress, Keppel Land adopts the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Framework. Its latest Sustainability Report 2013 is the first in Asia to be in accordance with GRI's latest G4 Guidelines at the higher Comprehensive level. The report is also externally assured in accordance with the international AA1000 Assurance Standard. The Company was listed in Corporate Knights' prestigious Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World 2014. Keppel Land was ranked 17th, placing it first in Asia and also among real estate companies worldwide.

Keppel Land is also a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Asia Pacific Indices. It has retained its position in The Sustainability Yearbook for four consecutive years as one of the top 15% of companies worldwide in sustainability leadership. The Company is also a constituent of the MSCI Global Sustainability and Socially Responsible Indices.
