As part of the governmental programme, Polish start-ups will obtain access to unique know-how, laboratories, technical and technological facilities, as well as development funding of up to 200,000 PLN.

The programme offers comprehensive and intensive business, industrial, technological and financial support, as well as access to a potential Customer - a Large Enterprise whose involvement accelerate technology development and its entry into the market.

The aim of the project, implemented in the period from 1 December 2016 to 28 February 2018 by a partnership composed of KGHM Cuprum, MIT Enterprise Forum Poland, PKO BP, PGNiG and Adamed, is to accelerate the creation and development of technology companies in four key sectors of the Polish economy (energy, raw materials, health care and finance).

KGHM Cuprum Research & Development Centre is the patron of the energy track, under which it proposes to use the potential of 13 research teams and 3 accredited laboratories, as well as a fast-track cooperation for selected start-ups.

The track of the raw material sector has been specifically developed by KGHM, and the solutions presented by the start-ups correspond to the strategic needs of the Company. These include:

  1. Processing and utilisation of excess sulphuric acid
  2. New resources: mining, processing, sales
  3. Energy-efficient technologies
  4. The impact of mining and processing on the environment.

The next step will include the selection of applications carried out according to uniform criteria for all tracks. Afterwards, industry selection and individual assessment of the start-ups will take place with the participation of independent experts from MIT. The acceleration programme will be assisted by selected mentors dedicated to each of the four thematic tracks, and coordinated by Industry Track Leaders in cooperation with Large Enterprises.

Young, innovative, small and micro-enterprises participating in acceleration not only acquire a chance to cooperate with industry giants and undergo acceleration according to a model taken directly from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), but also - thanks to funding from the Scale UP programme - obtain financing for the development of their business. The amount of the funding may even reach 200,000 PLN.
