SHANGHAI--Kia Motors Corp. (000270.SE) will recall 1,624 sport-utility vehicles in China because of brake pedal defects, China's quality control agency said Wednesday.
The recall of the Kia Borego SUVs built between June 2008 and July 2009 begins today, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced on its website.
A manufacturing defect affecting the cars' brake pedals could create a safety risk in emergency braking situations, the statement said.
