The four-year framework is split into three value bands and Kier has been appointed to deliver schemes in the high-value (£12.5m+) and low-value (up to £4.5m) bands. The detail of the bands is as follows:

o High value projects worth more than £12.5m in two lots covering the north and south of England
o Low value projects up to £4.5m, comprising twelve regional lots across England

The framework can be utilised by providers of educational services to deliver new schools, academies, university technical colleges, sixth form colleges, further education colleges and other educational facilities.

This new framework replaces the ESFA's previous National and Regional Contractors Framework, on which Kier was a leading provider.

This latest award reinforces Kier's position as a leading provider in the education sector, where it provides on average 25,000 school places year and has built nearly £5bn of education projects in the past decade.

Recent contract awards in the sector include the £25m Charter School project in East Dulwich and a £23m scheme to build a new 1,200-place through school in Sheffield.

Commenting on the award, Nigel Brook, Kier executive director, construction and infrastructure services, said: 'We're extremely pleased to have been appointed to the Education and Skills Funding Agency's new construction framework. We delivered over £700m of projects through the previous framework and are looking forward to working with education providers to deliver vital schemes over the next four years.'
