Kohl's is committed to conserving our Earth's resources by focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Kohl's is committed to providing healthy and engaging environments for our customers and associates. By seeking solutions that encourage long-term sustainability, we try to leave a smaller footprint. The steps Kohl's has taken and continue to take - both big and small - help us drive results as we strive to create a more sustainable tomorrow.

As environmental stewards, we are committed to conserving our Earth's resources by focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency. We look for ways to be cost efficient while using alternative energies, including:

  • Utilizing more than 200,000 rooftop solar panels which supply energy to 163 Kohl's facilities; each system can provide between 20 and 50 percent of a store's energy needs
  • Offering 206 free vehicle charging stations at 94 locations for associate and customer use
  • Hosting nine solar trees to offset power at two locations in Wisconsin and Texas

With 88% of our stores designated as ENERGY STAR certified and as a winner of the 2018 EPA ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence award, Kohl's believes in harnessing the sun's power and lowering carbon emissions.

Additionally, Kohl's focuses on waste diversion and reduction through recycling and other waste management solutions. In 2017, Kohl's recycled more than 150,000 tons of material. Both customers and associates can recycle plastic film, wrap and bags at every Kohl's location. Our efforts helped Kohl's to earn the EPA WasteWise National Award in 2017.
