Kohl's Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) today announced the second year of the Kohl's Cares Field Trip Grant Program, giving more than $1.5 million in funding to schools throughout the metro-Milwaukee area.

"The Kohl's Cares Field Trip Grant Program was such a success that we are excited to announce we are doubling our funding this year," said Michelle Gass, Kohl's chief customer officer. "We're thrilled to provide even more teachers and students the opportunity to have fun, exciting learning experiences outside of the classroom."

The program allows school groups to visit Kohl's partner organizations including, Betty Brinn Children's Museum, Discovery World, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Art Museum, and the Milwaukee County Zoo. Grants valued up to $1,000 each will be provided to eligible schools on a first-come, first-serve basis February 28 through May 2, 2014 or until the funds have been fully utilized. The Kohl's grants cover field trip expenses such as admission fees (including incremental workshops), transportation, substitute teacher fees and materials required for the experience.

The program is open to accredited public schools and nonprofit private schools with IRS 501(c)(3) status in the 10-county Milwaukee area, including the counties of Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha.
