On October 21, 2016, Komatsu Africa Holdings and Cummins Africa signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a new Technical Education for Communities (TEC) school in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Komatsu and Cummins Inc. have been building a strong trust relationship over the years as partners in the engine business.
Our two companies have both been putting energy into supporting human resources development in local communities as part of their social contribution activities, and already have collaborated in several areas. In order to expand our collaboration globally, we have made a contract in the name of both CEOs in April 10, 2016.
This new program in South Africa is a part of this collaboration.

The agreement was signed by Mike Blom, Managing Director, Komatsu Africa Holdings and Gino Butera, Vice President and Managing Director, Cummins Africa,
Through the partnership, Komatsu and Cummins will provide a standardized education platform to help Ekuruleni West College develop market-relevant curriculum, teacher training, career guidance and the practical experience needed by students.
