Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. will unveil a new trailer and a gameplay demonstration of "METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN" (below, "MGSV: TPP") at the world's premier game show, the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 (E3)*1, due to be held in Los Angeles starting Tuesday, June 10. The trailer will be viewable on the official website (www.konami.jp/mgs5).
The METAL GEAR game series is known worldwide as the starting point of the stealth game genre, in which protagonists must aim to avoid combat whenever possible in order to complete missions. This gameplay style, along with the series' recurring anti-war, anti-nuclear armament themes, has contributed to its total worldwide sales of over 38.6 million copies*2 to date.
"MGSV: TPP" is a title on which METAL GEAR series creator Hideo Kojima*3 is engaged in direction, writing, game design, and production. The game revolves around stealth action gameplay with an unparalleled degree of freedom, as players must develop their own tactics to accomplish their objectives, freely infiltrating and escaping enemy territory in a vast world with realistic passage of time, dynamic weather, and photorealistic graphics bursting with detail at every turn. All this adds up to a truly thrilling, immersive experience. The newest trailer to be revealed follows on from the prologue game "METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE GROUND ZEROES" (released in March 2014) to reveal a fragment of the deep, engaging story woven around main character Snake and his comrades.
