KPN will relocate six of its data centers, focused on offering colocation services, into a new company with its own identity within the KPN group. By doing so, KPN expects to be able to better capitalize on the growth opportunities in the market for colocation, where 'carrier and cloud neutral' are key decision criteria for customers.

Increasingly, companies make use of colocation, moving their in-house data center to a data center managed by a professional ICT provider like KPN. In addition, companies are turning to cloud services, which in many cases are offered from colocation data centers. Ever more, customers demand a data center that is not tied to a carrier or to a specific cloud. In response to market demand, KPN is relocating the data centers in Aalsmeer, Almere, Eindhoven, Groningen, Oude Meer (Schiphol) and Rotterdam into a separate company.

The move allows KPN to continue to serve the entire market and benefit from growth opportunities. KPN will continue to invest in the quality of this new 'colocation' business, enabling greater focus. Customers will experience an even better service with flexible and scalable solutions, enabling customers to adapt to changes in their secure ICT environment. The new company will operate independently within the KPN group with its own brand. The name of the new company will be announced at a later date.

For existing KPN colocation customers nothing changes. This announcement has no impact on employment, and is still subject to approval by KPN's works council.
