Kuehne und Nagel International : + Nagel celebrates 50 years of KN SACO

In 2015, Kuehne + Nagel proudly celebrated its125th anniversary to look back at a unique company history wherein traditional values, responsibility, confidence, professionality, hard work and individual engagement speeded up the success that is carried forward to whatever is expected in the future.

This year there is again an anniversary that is worth celebrating it: KN SACO`s consolidation containers (the term SACO means Sammelcontainer, the German word for consolidation container) exist now since 1968, and so aged 50 years. Out of the first consolidation container from Hamburg to Montreal, services have grown today to almost 450 weekly direct Port Pairs and 2 million cbm each year.

In order to honor this major progress, KN SACO initiated its anniversary tour by sending two wooden crates onto their ways to discover the world touching several Kuehne + Nagel stations while covering a distance of more than 35.000 Kilometers. Of course, the crates were not shipped empty and should not return empty to their final destination in Hamburg: Both boxes contain gifts that are carried to every station, and most importantly a Polaroid camera plus an anniversary booklet where everyone meeting the crates can leave warm greetings to colleagues around the globe. In order to also make a contribution to environmental protection the crates containd a raffle in which proceeds go towards 'The Ocean Cleanup', a non-profit organisation, developing advanced technologies to get rid of the world`s oceans of plastic.

Kuehne + Nagel is proud of this great initiative that has fostered relationships of the KN SACO community around the world. Let the next 50 years be just as good as the last.
