Augsburg, February 15, 2017 - The Swisslog division has received two major orders with an overall value of 36 million euro. Both orders won by Swisslog are for logistics automation in the food industry. Besides an order from US retail corporation Walmart, Swisslog has also secured an order from the American fruit wholesaler Stemilt Growers LLC. Both orders were booked in the fourth quarter.
Worth 24 million euro, the order from the North American retail corporation Walmart covers the implementation of fully automated warehouse and distribution logistics at the Fort Wayne location in Indiana. This project involves the integration of high-bay warehouses and various robot-based solutions for palletizing and depalletizing into the system.
The fruit wholesaler Stemilt Growers LLC has opted for the installation of a fully automated warehouse management system at its site in the Wenatchee region of Washington State.
'In addition to these two orders, we managed to win another two major projects from Mai Dubai and a renowned Asian corporation in the fourth quarter,' says Dr. Christian Baur, COO of Swisslog Group and CEO of the Warehouse & Distribution Solutions (WDS) Division.
'KUKA achieved an outstanding result in 2016. For Swisslog, it is the best year in the company's history in terms of orders received,' states Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG.
