Summary of Inauguration Speech by Goro Yamaguchi, President of Kyocera Corporation

The Kyocera Group was founded in 1959 as a producer of fine ceramic components. Since then, we have proactively diversified our business and currently deliver a diverse range of products globally, from advanced material, ceramic components and electronic devices to mobile phones, copiers, as well as services such as information and communications technology solutions

In the late 2000s, Kyocera began considering a new company base to support manufacturing. We decided to develop a base in Vietnam because of the stable political and social conditions as well as its central location in Asia. Furthermore, because there are many diligent and skillful people in the country, we believed that we could develop together with the people of Vietnam. We obtained sites at two locations in 2011 - the Thăng Long Industrial Park II in Hung Yen Province; and the VSIP Hai Phong Township, Industrial and Service Park in Hai Phong City - each with an area of 200,000m2.

At the Thăng Long Industrial Park II, Kyocera Vietnam Company launched the production of surface mount packages in August last year, and Kyocera Connector Products Vietnam began manufacturing connectors in November last year. At the VSIP Hai Phong Township, Industrial and Service Park, Kyocera Document Technology Vietnam has been manufacturing printers and copiers since October 2012. The two plants will play a central role in the future development of the Kyocera Group.

Kyocera's a management rationale is "To provide opportunities for the material and intellectual growth of all our employees, and through our joint efforts, contribute to the advancement of society and humankind." Through our manufacturing activities at these two plants, we hope to provide valuable opportunities for the employees, and play a part in the development of the region and Vietnam.
