Kyocera Corporation (President: Goro Yamaguchi) today announced that it will start supplying a new model of smartphone based on its DIGNO® M (currently sold in Japan) to Samart I-Mobile (President: Thananan Vilailuck) - a major mobile phone sales company in Thailand. While designed and manufactured by Kyocera, the phone will carry I-Mobile's high-tier "IQX" brand and be called the I-Mobile IQX KEN. Sales are planned to begin in April.

Kyocera's DIGNO M Android™ smartphone was first launched by au in 2013 in Japan. The handset possesses a large 5-inch display screen and high-volume battery all in the lightest weight*1 - at just 134 grams - with waterproof features. It also comes equipped with Kyocera's award-winning proprietary Smart Sonic Receiver® sound technology. Moreover, a smooth, curved back that tapers off to edges with a slim profile of just 3mm this smartphone has an elegant design which in January was awarded the internationally renowned "iF design award 2014."

The IQX KEN will be sold as an 'unlocked' handset where users can use their own SIM cards, with the handset capable of working on the various networks on which telecommunications carriers in Thailand operate, including GSM, W-CDMA and LTE.

Kyocera has focused its telecommunications equipment business mainly in Japan and the U.S., but is now aiming to expand globally, seeking to provide its high-quality handsets in a larger number of countries around the world.
