Lafarge is a world leader in producing and marketing of building materials, with top-ranking positions in all of its businesses. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- cements and binders (65.6%): cements (141.1 million tons sold in 2012), hydraulic binders, lime, etc.;
- granulates and concrete (33.8%): granulates (188.3 million tons sold), ready-to-use concrete, prefabricated concretes, bituminous coatings and road surface coverings;
- plaster-based products (0.6%): plaster plates, plaster squares, coatings, metal frameworks, industrial plasters, etc.
At the end of 2012, the group had 124 cement plants, 42 crushing stations, 392 granulate quarries and 1,438 concrete plants located worldwide.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Europe (28.1%), Africa and Middle East (27.1%), North America (21.3%), Asia (17.4%) and Latin America (6.1%).
