Inaugural showcase of LANXESS Lewabrane® Reverse
Osmosis (RO) membrane in ASEAN
-
The Lewabrane® RO membrane, combined with the existing
Lewatit® ion exchange resins, provides a one-stop
solution for desalination and production of
high-quality water
Singapore, July 2, 2012 - Specialty chemicals company
LANXESS, showcased its innovation and expertise in the
field of one of earth's most precious resources - water.
Exhibiting for the second time at the Singapore
International Water Week (SIWW) that opened this morning,
LANXESS showcased the company's newest water treatment
product line - Lewabrane® Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane -
along with its existing Lewatit® ion exchange resins
product range.
Unveiled for the first time in Southeast Asia, the
Lewabrane® RO product range, coupled with the existing
range of Lewatit® ion exchange resins products, now
positions LANXESS as a one-stop water treatment solution
provider. This enables the company to tackle the cleaning
of water in an integrated and highly efficient manner. The
Ion Exchange Resins business unit is also now able to
provide its customers with premium products as a
single-source supplier for both separation technologies -
reverse osmosis and ion exchange resins - for the
desalination and production of high-quality water for
drinking and industrial use.
"With a rapidly growing population and the unpredictability
of a world affected by climate change, the industry needs
to start thinking of new and innovative solutions to
protect one of the most valuable resources in the world -
water. At LANXESS, we are constantly looking into new ways
of providing solutions that will offer the industry with a
viable means of saving this precious resource" said
Wolfgang Heuchel, VP of the APAC region, Ion Exchange
Resins (ION) business unit of LANXESS.
"Treating wastewater for re-use is one of the many ways
that will contribute to safeguarding our water supply. The
launch of the Lewabrane Reverse Osmosis membrane elements,
coupled with the Lewatit range of products, will provide
sustainability of this limited resource. LANXESS' continued
development in these numerous products also underlines our
commitment to make urban living healthier, safer and more
comfortable."
Lewabrane® Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane designed
specifically for industrial water applications, a key
feature of the Lewabrane® RO membrane is its polyamide
barrier layer which has a high polymerization degree.
This feature causes higher chemical and mechanical
stability that enables prolonged membrane life.
Additionally, the density of negative charge groups on the
surface are reduced resulting in a membrane surface that is
less vulnerable to cationic fouling.
The HR (high rejection) type elements are designed to
provide extremely low salt passage in normal operation,
with more than 99.7 percent salt rejection measured under
standard conditions.
Fields of application include the desalination of brackish
and low-salinity waters, groundwater remediation and the
production of boiler feed water required in power stations.
The RO technology also facilitates demineralization by
particle removal in microchip manufacture.
Aside from the product showcase LANXESS will hold a series
of mini-talks at the LANXESS booth J22 as follows:
