(Oak Ridge, Tenn.) October 6, 2015 - Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a health, national security and engineering solutions company, will mark 40 years in the Oak Ridge business community with a reception at 9:30 am on October 16, 2015, at the Leidos Corporate Center. Click here to RSVP.

Although the Leidos name may be new, the company has been part of the Oak Ridge landscape since 1975, when SAI opened a small office. The staff grew from one employee to more than 1,000, and the firm built its corporate center on Laboratory Road in 1990. In 2013, the company formerly known as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) spun-off its IT services business and changed its name to Leidos. Today, Leidos Oak Ridge serves the local scientific, engineering, environmental and healthcare community, the nation, and the world.

Beyond marking the four decade milestone, the event will recognize the contributions of the more than 4,000 past and current employees who have been part of this success. Since 1975, Leidos has made a commitment to bring jobs, growth, and technical experts to the Oak Ridge community, and to be a respected corporate citizen that gives back to the local community and economy.

Leidos has become one of the largest employers in Oak Ridge, supporting local economic expansion and bringing high technology jobs. In 2008, corporate human resources, finance, and purchasing operations were moved to Oak Ridge from California, bringing over 150 additional local jobs. Leidos has also brought over $750 million in payroll to the region, and contributed more than $1 billion in economic impact in East Tennessee.

In addition to strengthening the local economy, Leidos Oak Ridge is a long-time supporter for many local community service activities and programs, such as For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics teams, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education at area schools, Meals on Wheels, United Way, Adopt-a-Highway, the American Red Cross, Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC), the Emory Valley Center, the Children's Museum if Oak Ridge, and the Michael Dunn Center. Leidos also brings many volunteers to participate in local events like the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure, Relay for Life, Komen Race for the Cure, and has sponsored four Habitat for Humanity homes.

'From our first days here, the commitment of our company has been to bring new work into Oak Ridge from the outside, and to build the region's reputation for scientific and technical excellence,' said Leidos Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Mike Pasqua. 'Our employees have made this commitment a reality. We're honoring that, and we invite past and present staff to join us in this celebration.'

'The City of Oak Ridge is proud to have had the support of Leidos in the Oak Ridge community,' said Oak Ridge Mayor Warren Gooch. 'Leidos, through its predecessor SAI have been an important source of valuable jobs, technical support for the large Department of Energy complexes in Oak Ridge and community support for our schools and charities. We congratulate Leidos on 40 years of outstanding corporate contribution to Oak Ridge and we look forward to many more years of partnership.'

'Ever since Leidos was created as a small office in 1975, the facilities in Oak Ridge have made a lasting image of the high tech capacity of the Oak Ridge community,' added Oak Ridge City Manager Mark Watson. 'Leidos employees and leadership have made countless contributions to our citizens in big and small ways. We congratulate Leidos on forty years of contributions to this region and the world.'
