RESTON, Va., Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a national security, health and engineering solutions company, was awarded a prime contract by U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (SMDC/ARSTRAT) and support of the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) effort. The single-award firm-fixed-price, level-of-effort (FFP LOE) has a one-year based period of performance and a total contract value of approximately $37 million. The task order is awarded under the Warfighter Modeling Simulation Analysis and Integration Support IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity). Work will be performed within and outside the continental United States.

AMRDEC, a subordinate organization to the Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), is the Army's focal point for providing research, development and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms across the lifecycle. Under the contract, Leidos will provide electrical and mechanical engineering; systems engineering; prototype development, fabrication and integration; and technical program support to AMRDEC. The team will also provide a wide range of engineering, aviation and prototyping support for U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, including rapid hardware development.
