RESTON, Va., Aug. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos [NYSE: LDOS], a national security, health and engineering solutions company, was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Army's Armament, Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC). The multiple-award cost-plus-fixed-fee/firm fixed-price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has five-year period of performance and a contract ceiling of $300 million for all awardees. Leidos is one of seven awardees eligible to compete for task orders under the contract.

Under the contract, Leidos will provide processing, supply and fabrication of armament-related products, fabrication or refurbishment of armaments and related manufacturing equipment and prototyping and engineering services. Leidos will serve ARDEC through the Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC) program office.

ARDEC's mission is to rapidly respond to soldier needs for armament-related products and services. The contract streamlines ARDEC's procurement strategy through JM&L LCMC to accomplish their mission and ensure the fast delivery of armament and weapons systems from research and development facilities to the field for current military efforts.
