Company to Provide Sponsorship and Volunteers for Leadership Ethics and Diversity in STEM Program

(Reston, Va.) April 8, 2014 - Leidos [NYSE:LDOS], a national security, health and engineering solutions company, is sponsoring the Leadership Ethics and Diversity in STEM workshop, hosted by West Point Society of DC (WPSDC) and administered and funded through Seeds of Humanity Foundation, at Howard University, one of the premier Historically Black Colleges and Universities, on April 11, 2014. Over 40 schools are expected to send more than 220 educator and student delegates in grades 7-12.

The largest of the 120 West Point Societies worldwide, the WPSDC's objectives are to lend support to the United States Military Academy, conduct programs to attract the highest caliber of candidates for admission, and provide a social focus for graduates and former cadets in the greater Washington Metropolitan area. Per the WPSDC, the event is intended to increase the visibility of the Academy among future leaders in District of Columbia communities with the goal to inspire future leaders to select STEM ((Science Technology Engineering and Math) disciplines in school and STEM vocations in life.

The award-winning West Point Math Department will present a STEM Workshop for the younger grades while the older grades will learn about the higher aspects and rewards of ethical leadership in our STEM world. Accompanying the Math Department will be its partner, the Army Research Lab, who will engage all student delegates about competitive STEM opportunities.

"We are excited to present an event that supports the development of ethical leadership and STEM competence, two urgent concepts that help enhance our national character and our national security," said Pat Locke, West Point LEADS coordinator.

In addition to the financial sponsorship, Leidos will provide volunteer judges with key subject matter expertise. This opportunity aligns with the corporate responsibility philosophy of Leidos to combine charitable giving with employee outreach whenever possible to maximize its powerful and passionate community of employee volunteers. In 2013, Leidos employee volunteers logged more than 5,000 hours to K-12 STEM related activities - 33% of all total volunteer hours reported by the company.

"Leidos is pleased to support the Seeds of Humanity Foundation's LEADS workshop to promote ethical leadership and inspire participants to choose STEM disciplines in school," said Leidos Army Strategic Account Executive, Joe DeFrancisco. "Leidos employees are incredibly passionate about volunteerism and helping to encourage and excite our next generation of future science and technology leaders."
