RESTON, Va., June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a national security, health, and infrastructure solutions company, was awarded a prime contract by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to provide technical support services to the FHWA Office of Operations Research & Development and the Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory. The single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity firm fixed-price time and materials contract has a five-year period of performance and a total contract value of $75 million. Work will be performed primarily in McLean, Va.

The Saxton Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility for conducting transportation operations research that enables FHWA to validate and refine new transportation services and technologies before committing to larger scale research, development, testing, and deployment phases. Under the follow-on contract, Leidos will provide technical support services including: technical and research services related to conventional transportation operations issues; technical assistance, technical studies, and laboratory and field experiments that support activities and strategies of the FHWA Office of Operations Research & Development; develop, design, and integrate systems in which vehicles, users, and the infrastructure interact with each other seamlessly to support enhanced mobility, safety, environmental sustainability, productivity and economic competitiveness, and overall customer satisfaction and livability; and technical and research services in support of ITS communications, positioning, and mapping technologies.
