RESTON, Va., June 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a global science and technology company, was awarded a prime contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) to provide operational support to NSWCCD acoustic trials and research activities for the Navy's Southeast Alaska Acoustic Measurement Facility (SEAFAC). The single-award cost-plus fixed-fee contract has a six-month base period of performance, one three-month option, and a total contract value of approximately $12 million if the option is exercised. Work will be performed in Ketchikan, AK, Poulsbo, WA, and Long Beach, MS.

NSWCCD provides support for technical products over a wide range of scientific areas related to surface and undersea platforms including maritime science and technology. As the Navy's primary acoustic engineering measurement facility in the Pacific, SEAFAC provides the capability to perform evaluations to determine the sources of radiated acoustic noise, to assess vulnerability, and to develop quieting measures.

Leidos has supported SEAFAC for more than 20 years, including designing, operating, maintaining, and upgrading SEAFAC and its infrastructure under the SEAPORT-e contract vehicle. Under the contract, Leidos will continue to provide logistics, operations, and maintenance services in support of Navy and Marine signature silencing programs. Operational support will include vessel transport services, infrastructure inspection and maintenance, waste management service, environmental compliance support, material/weight handling equipment support, logistics, and maintenance of building mechanical systems throughout the SEAFAC site.

"SEAFAC is among the Navy's most capable undersea ranges requiring highly accurate technical performance from supporting systems. Leidos' innovative solutions enable SEAFAC to maintain a technological advantage in undersea systems to help the Navy remain in a high state of readiness for all acoustic trials," said Leidos Group President Mike Chagnon.
