Lendlease and the NSW Government gave Sydney its first glimpse today of the spectacular harbour and city views from what will soon be Australia's largest and most stunning grand ballroom. Up to 2,000 people at a time will enjoy celebrations of all kinds in this sophisticatedballroom once the world-class International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) opens in December 2016 in Darling Harbour.

NSW Premier Mike Baird and Transport & Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance joined Lendlease Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Steve McCann and construction workers at a ceremony to celebrate the third and final building of ICC Sydney reaching structural completion. The 'topping off' ceremony commemorates the latest milestone in the delivery of this Public Private Partnership that will also create fantastic new public spaces and pedestrian connections, completely revitalising Darling Harbour.

Lendlease's Steve McCann said, "Lendlease is delighted to celebrate this milestone in a successful partnership between the public and private sector that will help put Sydney back on the global stage where we rightly belong."

NSW Premier Mike Baird said, "This major infrastructure project is moving at a cracking pace, and is another example of how the NSW Government is building tomorrow's Sydney. By the end of next year, we'll have a state-of-the-art convention centre that truly befits a global city and one that cements Sydney as the number one place to do business. Along with Barangaroo we are witnessing a transformation of the western edge of Sydney's CBD as part of a construction boom that's delivering thousands of jobs."

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said, "This is the biggest and most exciting change to Darling Harbour in 25 years. ICC Sydney will reinstate Sydney as the one of the world's premier business events destinations, boosting the economy by at least $200 million each year."

Mr McCann said, "Today we stand atop the convention building on the doorstep of Australia's largest ballroom. This beautiful design has the wow factor and is reminiscent of the splend our of the greatest traditional ballrooms. What's on offer outside is really the icing on the cake for ICCSydney - an impressive 270 degree view of the city skyline across the harbour. With capacity for 2,000 people, this ballroom will become a sought after destination for special events such as New Year's Eve and Vivid Sydney.

"Here in Darling Harbour, in addition to our work on delivering ICC Sydney, Lendlease is developing the adjacent 5-star hotel and Sydney's newest urban village, Darling Square. These are all part of a $3.4 billion, 20 hectare transformation that will refresh and reinvigorate Darling Harbour, creating one of the world's best places to meet, live and be entertained.

"I am very proud of the work of our people across the Darling Harbour project, with over 5,150 workers inducted so far, completing 2.3 million hours of work. Each and every member of the team is contributing to a once-in-a-generation transformation of this great part of Sydney. In less than 18 months' time, the hoardings will come down and the people of Sydney will get to experience this world-class venue, exciting retail and great public spaces as we never have before."
