Joint efforts will identify projects in key global markets to drive rapid localization of the WELL Building Standard®

NEW YORK, NY (November 17, 2015) - Delos®, the pioneer of Wellness Real Estate™, and Lendlease, one of the world's leading integrated infrastructure and real estate groups, announced a global alliance today aiming to accelerate the integration of human health and wellness outcomes in the built environment.

Pioneered by Delos, the WELL Building Standard® (WELL) is the world's first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. It marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research - harnessing the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and wellbeing.

WELL is grounded in evidence-based medical research that demonstrates the connection between the buildings where we spend more than 90 percent of our time and health and wellness impacts on us as occupants. WELL is administered by the International WELL Building Institute™ and third-party certified by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI).

'What people need from the built environment to support their health and wellness is the same everywhere,' commented Paul Scialla, founder and CEO of Delos. 'We're proud to join with Lendlease to bring human health and wellness-centered innovations to leading markets around the world.'

A key feature of the collaboration will be to jointly champion the internationalization and implementation of the wellbeing agenda for buildings and communities. The effort will include identifying pioneering projects in key global markets where Lendlease operates, including Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States, which will pursue WELL Certification and provide WELL ready workplaces for tenants.

Through the certification process, these pioneering projects will drive rapid harmonization of WELL with local green building rating systems and building codes around the world, a critical step in the adoption of WELL internationally.

'Supporting the next generation of buildings and places that get it right for people, as well as the environment is very important,' said Geoff Dutaillis, group head of sustainability at Lendlease. 'The built environment has a critical role to play in helping cities and governments transition towards a low carbon future; however, it's the direct impact on human capital and productivity through increased focus on supporting human health and wellbeing which is the untapped potential.'

Lendlease will also explore piloting the upcoming WELL Community Standard for its key urban regeneration projects to support ongoing research, development and implementation of the WELL standard.

Committed to leading by example, Lendlease will also collaborate with Delos to integrate the WELL Building Standard into its workplace strategy - and will begin evaluating its own regional offices for health and wellness performance.
