Lendlease leads the way with wellbeing and parental leave
31 August 2015

Sydney, 31 August 2015: Lendlease has cemented its place as an employer of choice by being one of the first international organisations to introduce wellbeing leave to employees across its global regions.

In Australia and New Zealand the new wellbeing leave, which is in addition to the usual leave entitlements, equates to one wellbeing day every four months and can be used for a range of activities, such as a yoga retreat, a meditation course, a preventative health check-up or carer's respite.

Michael Vavakis, Group Head of Human Resources, said caring for people is at the heart of what we do, so we are always looking for ways to support employees as part of our Health & Wellbeing Framework.

"We want to encourage our employees to take a proactive and preventative approach to their health.

"Wellbeing leave provides employees with time out to focus specifically on their physical and mental wellbeing rather than using sick or recreational leave," said Mr Vavakis.

In addition, Lendlease has further enhanced its parental leave policy so all employees globally can spend more time with their families. These changes put the Lendlease entitlements well above the minimum legal requirements in each jurisdiction.

Lendlease employees in Australia already enjoy a leading parental leave policy with 18 weeks paid plus 34 weeks unpaid leave for employees who are a primary carer and two weeks paid plus six weeks unpaid leave for employees who are a partner.

Lendlease understands that every family is different so we have made changes to our parental leave so that families can make decisions about what leave arrangements best suit them.

"We've updated the policy to ensure that all families, irrespective of parental make-up, are able to access paid parental leave and to choose who will be the primary carer of their child.

"More than that, both parents will have access to paid leave to bond with theirnew child and parental leave will be available regardless of whether a child has been born into the family or adopted," said Mr Vavakis

"Lendlease is committed to creating a workplace where our people can thrive, seeking healthier, happier and more productive lives because they are supported," said Mr Vavakis.
