Lend Lease : People’s vote to make King Street come to life

The people of Queensland now have the opportunity to have their say on the many talented local artists who have been busy creating artworks that celebrate Lendlease's new King Street at Brisbane Showgrounds.

As part of the King Street Canvas competition, Lendlease is now calling for the public to vote for their favorite artwork, with all votes to go into the draw to win a $50 visa gift card. The four winning artists who receive the top public voting scores will each receive $1,000 cash, and have their artwork professionally photographed and publicly displayed around the showgrounds site.

Lendlease's Brisbane Showground's Project Director, Andrew Hay said the artwork submitted showcased the extensive variety and created thought of Queensland's very talented artists.

"Artists were asked to represent one of Brisbane Showground's four themes, which are modern history, paddock to plate, hyper local and urban eclectic - and they have done a superb job, looking at it from every possible creative angle.

"We've received everything from modern and abstract works to more traditional pieces, and are excited to showcase the variety of artists' work that reflects the interpretation of the site's past, present and future.

"Brisbane Showgrounds borders the Valley and Bowen Hills, both vibrant artistic precincts - we want to match that talent and creativity with the exciting regeneration that's happening in King Street," he said.

To cast your vote, log onto the Live King Street Facebook page, simply click on the 'vote now' button page next to the artwork of your choice and fill out the entry form. Public voting closes on 25 June 2015 with a further four artworks chosen as winners by a judging panel led by independent curator, Living History Program, King Street, John Waldron.
