Brisbane, 30 September 2015: The rejuvenation of Brisbane Showgrounds, a joint venture between Lendlease and the RNA, will be brought to life this week as the first residents are welcomed to The Green apartments.

Lendlease's first stage of residential apartments, The Green at Brisbane Showgrounds, has welcomed its first purchaser and now resident, Dean Raihman. Dean will be one of more than 500 residents who will move into The Green's 365 apartments across the five towers, fronting the Showgrounds' new high street, King Street.

Lendlease's Brisbane Showgrounds Project Director, Andrew Hay said welcoming the first resident was a significant milestone for the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct.

'We're welcoming Dean as the first of many new residents in this unique and highly desirable urban location. The inner city locality means all residents will experience the modern benefits of city life with the history and character of the 140 year old Brisbane Showgrounds site.

'Some of Brisbane's best cafes, boutique retail, social hotspots and fresh food options are all within walking distance.Residents can also look forward to the opening of the new, vibrant King Street which will be one of the most exciting elements of the showgrounds' transformation - creating a great place to live both by day and by night.'

First resident Dean Raihman said he could immediately see the opportunity and lifestyle benefits in establishing himself at The Green.

'I am really excited at the prospect of living in a precinct that will continue to evolve, grow and become more vibrant over the next 10 years.

'I have lived in New Farm for the last nine years, so being able to get out and about on foot to catch public transport, socialise with friends and attend foreign film festivals at the nearby cinemas in both James Street and New Farm was key in deciding where to buy an apartment.

'One of the most exciting features for me is the courtyard. I grow my own orchids, bromeliads and other sub-tropical plants so I was immediately drawn to Lendlease's genuine focus on making plants an integral part of The Green's design.

'The central landscaped podium feels like you're living in a garden in the sky with thickly planted bamboo, tall tree ferns and lush flowering creepers. It will be a very tranquil sanctuary in the middle of a thriving lifestyle hub.

'I just can't wait to get settled and make the most of being so close to all the action,' he said.

The newest inner city hub, Brisbane Showgrounds, adjoins the Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct and is only 1.6 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD. Over the next 10 years, it will become a vibrant new destination where 15,000 people will live, work and play.
