Lend Lease : World-class urban transformation - reshaping Sydney on a global scale

What makes a liveable city? What makes you want to live or work in a city? Can you purposely design "quality of life" into a city?

Right now across Sydney, over $13bn is being invested in major infrastructure and development projects giving us a once in a generation opportunity to reshape our city and make it one of the world"s best places to live and work. These projects include the new financial services hub at Barangaroo; the world class International Convention Centre Sydney and ICC Sydney Hotel; the Bays Precinct; and the CBD and South East Light Rail Project; with more projects under consideration.

Lend Lease, the global property and infrastructure group founded and headquartered in Sydney, is collaborating with Destination NSW through the Vivid Ideas festival to bring together global urbanist Tyler Brûlé with a group of Sydney's thought leaders to explore what makes a truly global and liveable city.

Vivid Ideas is part of Vivid Sydney, the world's largest festival of light, music and ideas and is owned and managed by Destination NSW, the NSW Government"s tourism and major events agency.

This exciting panel discussion, which is open to the public, will be introduced by NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres, and includes Lucy Turnbull (Committee for Sydney); Patricia Forsythe (Sydney Business Chamber); Margy Osmond (Tourism & Transport Forum) and Jonathan Emery (Lend Lease). The speakers will discuss how to leverage this unprecedented investment to deliver world class urban transformation that all Sydneysiders can be proud of.

Tyler Brûlé - Tyler Brûlé is one of the most influential global figures in publishing and branding. He is the founder of Wallpaper magazine and the founder and editor in chief of Monocle magazine. The youngest ever recipient of the British Society of Magazine Editors Lifetime Achievement Award, and Ad Age"s "Editor of the Year", Tyler is also founder and CEO of Winkreative, the design agency that international retailers, airlines and nations turn to for branding advice.

Jonathan Emery, Managing Director - Urban Regeneration, Lend Lease - Over the course of his career, Jonathan has been responsible for creating places that redefine cities around the world. Now, as Managing Director of Urban Regeneration, he is responsible for defining Lend Lease"s Urban Regeneration strategic initiatives and overseeing projects across the country. Last year Jonathan was invited to speak at the G20 Summit in Brisbane, and has recently been appointed the Edward Bass Fellow at Yale School of Architecture for Fall 2016.

Lucy Turnbull AO, Chair, Committee for Sydney - Lucy Turnbull is Chair of the Committee for Sydney and Chairman of Prima BioMed Limited, an ASX- listed biomedical company. She was Sydney"s first female Lord Mayor and in 2011 she became an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the community, local government and business.

Margy Osmond , CEO, Tourism & Transport Forum - Margy Osmond is Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism & Transport Forum and is also Chair of the TAFE NSW Board and the City of Sydney"s Retail Advisory Council. Previous roles have included CEO of the State and Sydney Chambers of Commerce in NSW. She has also held board positions on Australian Sports Foundation, Tourism NSW, Bell Shakespeare, NSW Major Events and the NSW State Transit Authority.

The Hon. Patricia Forsythe , Executive Director, Sydney Business Chamber - Patricia Forsythe is Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber. She also serves on a number of boards including Business Events Sydney; Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW; Destination NSW; Council of Macquarie University; Port Authority NSW and Cricket NSW. Prior to joining the Chamber, Patricia served as a Member of the NSW Legislative Council from 1991 to 2006. From 1995 to 2005 Patricia served on the Opposition frontbench, in a number of shadow portfolios.
