Analyst Update: Quarterly Earnings Results, Completion of Settlement, and Recognition

U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday as mixed economic data during the week, renewed dollar strength and sharply lower oil prices made traders cautious ahead of the upcoming meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee. The consumer sentiment data showed a preliminary read of 91.2 in March versus 95.4 in February. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 145.91 points, or 0.82%, to close at 17,749.31. The S&P 500 fell 12.55 points, or 0.61%, to end at 2,053.40. The Nasdaq Composite was down 21.53 points, or 0.44%, to 4,871.76. European equities closed slightly higher Friday as the oil and gas sector took another hit from tumbling prices. The German DAX gained 0.87%, the French CAC gained 0.46% while the FTSE ended the day 0.30% down. In Asia, Chinese shares advanced, led by financials after People's Bank of China Governor said the bank will maintain its prudent monetary policy. Japan's Nikkei 225 hit a fresh 15-year high as robot maker Fanuc Corp jumped 13% on a report that it will consider raising its dividend and buying back stock.

Medallion Financial Corp (Medallion Financial) reported its fourth quarter and full-year 2014 financial results with record full-year earnings of $28.7 million or $1.14 per diluted common share. Net interest margin was the highest ever for the Company at 7.49% on a combined basis, up from 6.66% a year ago.

NewStar Financial Inc. (NewStar Financial) reported its 2014 fourth quarter results with a net income of $1.2 million, or $0.02 per diluted share, compared with a net income of $5.0 million, or $0.10 per diluted share in Q3 2014.

Pra Group Inc. (Pra Group) reported 2014 fourth quarter results by posting total revenues of $250.7 million, compared with $184.9 million in Q4 2013. Total operating expenses also increased to $140.9 million during the quarter, as compared to $106.5 million in Q4 2013. Net income attributable to PRA Group stood at $47.0 million or $0.93 per diluted share, compared with $45.8 million or $0.91 per diluted share in Q4 2013.

SecurityNational Mortgage Company (SecurityNational Mortgage), a wholly owned subsidiary of Security National Financial Corporation (Security National), reported completion of settlement payments to Wells Fargo Bank. This relates to the original settlement agreement that was made on April 7, 2011 to resolve the claims and disputes between Wells Fargo and SecurityNational Mortgage regarding certain mortgage loans that Wells Fargo had purchased from SecurityNational Mortgage.

Lendingtree Inc. (Lendingtree) reported that it has won two LeadsCouncil LEADER 2015 Awards, strengthening the Company's position as the premier lead generator for the lending industry. The Company received the Gold award for Best 3rd Party Lead Generator and the Silver award for Most Innovative Company in the mortgage category, which together marks the Company's commitment to provide partners with world-class lead quality and product innovation to help grow their businesses.
