HOUSTON, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Lennar (NYSE: LEN and LEN.B), one of the nation's largest homebuilders, today pledged at least $1 million to the United Way of Greater Houston Flood Relief Fund to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The Lennar Foundation will make an immediate $1 million donation to the fund and also will match contributions dollar-for-dollar made by its 9,000 associates nationwide.

"Our hearts go out to people in communities across the Houston area who have been impacted by the severe flooding from Hurricane Harvey," said Stuart Miller, CEO of Lennar, one of Houston's and the nation's largest homebuilders. "Lennar associates across the country are eager to help and we will match their contributions dollar-for-dollar above and beyond the initial $1 million donation. It's our hope that this pledge will help alleviate the stress so many are feeling and help them return to the safety and comfort of their homes."

United Way of Greater Houston established its Flood Relief Fund this week to help with the recovery needs of those most impacted by Hurricane Harvey. All monies raised by United Way's Flood Relief Fund will be used to help with both immediate, basic needs and long-term recovery services such as case management and home repairs.

"We are so grateful for the outstanding leadership and generosity of the Lennar Foundation in answering our urgent call for help for those most affected by Hurricane Harvey," said Anna M. Babin, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Houston. "It will take a massive recovery effort to respond to this unprecedented disaster and the community can count on their United Way to be there every step of the way, thanks to the support of generous donors."
