St. Landry Extended Care Hospital earns Quality
Respiratory Care Recognition under national program

OPELOUSAS, La. - St. Landry Extended Care Hospital has earned "Quality Respiratory Care Recognition" from the American Association for Respiratory Care.

Approximately 15 percent of the nation's hospitals have earned AARC's "Quality Respiratory Care Recognition," which denotes healthcare facilities that meet or exceed the national association's standards and guidelines for the delivery of respiratory care.

St. Landry Extended Care Hospital provides specialized care to medically complex patients. The long-term acute care hospital is part of Lafayette-based LHC Group, a national provider of post-acute care services.

The AARC developed the QRCR program in 2003 to help patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of respiratory care services available in hospitals. Hospitals earning the QRCR designation improve patient safety by agreeing to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services. Hospitals must also provide documentation showing they meet these standards.
