WEST ORANGE, N.J., June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Tech's Grand Prairie, TX campus has served as a training site for BMW North America's Service Technician Education Program (STEP) since 2013. Lincoln Educational Services Corporation (NASDAQ: LINC), parent company of Lincoln Tech, announces that the campus has now launched its first program for MINI STEP. Lincoln Tech in Grand Prairie will serve as the nation's only training site for MINI STEP.

"Having enjoyed an excellent relationship with BMW North America for many years, we feel our selection as their exclusive educational provider for MINI STEP training speaks to the quality of the technicians our campus produces for their dealerships around the country," says Lincoln's President and CEO Scott Shaw. "Adding MINI STEP to Lincoln Tech opens another door to new careers for our students, and we're excited for the opportunity to offer it in Grand Prairie."

The MINI brand is one of the fastest-growing segments in the auto industry, with a loyal fan base that rivals industry powerhouses like Mustang and Corvette. Through MINI STEP, Lincoln Tech Automotive Technology students can start on their way to careers with MINI in a program that's paid for by MINI USA: if they meet the terms of the enrollment agreement, students are responsible only for travel and housing costs if they're relocating from elsewhere in the country. After completing the 16-week MINI STEP, graduates can qualify as Level 1 Technicians and pursue positions at MINI dealerships around the country.

Training includes hands-on experience working with MINI diagnostic codes, brake systems, electrical systems, on-board computers and more. The program will receive dedicated space in the Lincoln Tech auto bays, and MINI will provide vehicles to be used in class.

"We're proud to now offer MINI training to students from Texas and around the country," says Grand Prairie Campus President Mike Couling. "MINI is a growing, exciting brand and they're producing some very advanced vehicles that require uniquely-skilled technicians for maintenance. We're honored to have been chosen as one of the first sites in the country to train those future technicians, and we look forward to helping MINI build its workforce."
