Lincoln Electric Hosts Motorsports Welding Experts for Advanced Motorsports Welding Seminar

Seminar addressed challenges related to welding high-strength, lightweight materials

Cleveland - Some of the most prominent metal fabricators in the racing industry gathered this week at Lincoln Electric's corporate headquarters in Cleveland for the annual Advanced Motorsports Welding Seminar. Representatives from NASCAR, IndyCar, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), off-road racing, aviation and other related industries and groups assembled on Dec. 2 and 3 to share their expertise and experience related to welding and metal fabrication in motorsports.

Through the company's long association with motorsports, Lincoln Electric engineers and designers have found that the most common fabricating challenges are related to welding titanium, chrome-moly, Inconel alloys and aluminum. Wyatt Swaim
A consultant for Lincoln Electric, Wyatt Swaim is considered a leading TIG welding expert worldwide. He is the founder of TigDepot.net & Hi-Tech Welding Services Inc., which provides high-level welding, metallurgy, welding engineering and R&D to high-tech industries.

Dennis Klingman
Retired director of technical training at Lincoln Electric, Dennis Klingman is a life member of the American Welding Society, a certified welding inspector and a certified welding educator. He is a past chairman and current advisor to the national Education Committee of the American Welding Society.

Dan Klingman
Son of Dennis Klingman, Dan Klingman is a technical trainer at Lincoln Electric, where he provides training for unions and schools. Dan has also been a TIG welder at the Indy 500 since 2006.

Scott Helzer, Ph.D.
A faculty member at Florida State University, Scott Helzer teaches TIG welding to Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) members and hosts EAA forum discussions on welding chrome-moly.  He holds a doctorate degree in the welding sciences from Texas A&M University.
