Lincoln Electric's Sarah Evans to Speak at ACTE'S CareerTech VISION 2014
Company's virtual solutions product manager will co-present on Nov. 21 with Robert J. Visdos of the Workforce Institute
Cleveland - When career technical educators look toward launching a new program area or even expanding an existing one, the first thing that comes to mind is funding. The next thing that comes to mind is the necessary grant-seeking process to obtain that funding.
As Sarah Evans, virtual solutions product manager at Lincoln Electric, sees it, there is no magic in writing good grants, but there are benchmarks and tips that can help grant seekers succeed in their efforts. She will offer insight into this process this month at the Association for Career and Technical Education's (ACTE's) CareerTech VISION 2014 convention and expo in Nashville.
Evans will join forces with grant-writing expert Robert J. Visdos, president of the Workforce Institute, a dynamic workforce and economic development firm in Portland, Oregon, to share strategies that attendees can use to secure outside funding from both government agencies and foundations. The pair will present on Nov. 21, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., during the show's educational sessions.
Topics covered during the presentation include the various types of grants, where to find different types of funders, how to create a proposal that links industry need to their school's mission and vision, and best practices in creating strategy once the grant is funded.
