Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: LNC) announced the introduction of new fee-based variable and fixed indexed annuities, broadening its suite of lifetime income solutions. Designed to help advisors solve for their clients’ retirement income needs, these products provide savers with a known source of income through a competitive cost option with a broad selection of investment choices, and no surrender charges. The new solutions give advisors more fee-based choices, and the variable annuities offer the same guaranteed lifetime income riders that are available through Lincoln’s core commission-based solutions – Lincoln ChoicePlus AssuranceSM, American Legacy® and Lincoln Investor Advantage®.

“These solutions provide advisors with more fee-based options to create a known source of income for their clients that they can never outlive and that can never go down. Until now, there have been limited choices for fee-based guaranteed income products. Our expanded portfolio is built to match the way advisors do business and how they construct portfolios for their clients,” said John Kennedy, senior vice president and head of Retirement Solutions Distribution for Lincoln Financial Distributors. “Guaranteed lifetime income solutions are important for helping consumers achieve their retirement objectives, and we are committed to offering fee-based solutions that deliver known sources of income.”

The new solutions are now available within Lincoln’s variable annuity portfolio and include American Legacy® Advisory, Lincoln ChoicePlusSM Advisory and Lincoln Investor Advantage® Advisory. The products strengthen Lincoln Financial’s offering of fee-based products, and demonstrate the company’s commitment to providing a full portfolio of commission- and fee-based guaranteed lifetime income solutions that help meet the varied needs of today’s advisors and the clients they serve.

Lincoln was also the first in the industry to launch a fee-based fixed indexed annuity developed exclusively for registered investment advisors. Designed to fit the needs of their business, Lincoln Core CapitalSM offers principal protection and growth opportunities that are linked to market performance. Additionally, since launching Lincoln Core CapitalSM, Lincoln has added fee-based versions of Lincoln Covered ChoiceSM 5 and 7 to its fixed indexed annuity portfolio, providing more options for fee-based advisors.

“We are committed to providing transparent and flexible options that fit the need for guaranteed lifetime income in today’s marketplace – within both commission- and fee-based arrangements,” said Brian Kroll, senior vice president and head of Annuity Solutions for Lincoln Financial Group. “We believe in choice, and in allowing advisors and consumers to decide which model is best for their retirement income objectives. Commissions and fees can both be in the best interest of clients.”

Variable annuities are designed for retirement and offer lifetime income, tax-deferred growth and death benefit protection for loved ones. To decide if a variable annuity is right for you, consider that it is subject to investment risk, includes costs, and all guarantees – including those for optional features – are subject to the claims paying ability of the issuing company.

Variable annuities are long-term investment products designed for retirement purposes and are subject to market fluctuation, investment risk, and possible loss of principal. Variable annuities contain both investment and insurance components and have fees and charges, including mortality and expense, administrative, and advisory fees. Optional features are available for an additional charge. The annuity’s value fluctuates with the market value of the underlying investment options, and all assets accumulate tax-deferred. Withdrawals of earnings are taxable as ordinary income and, if taken prior to age 59½, may be subject to an additional 10% federal tax. Withdrawals will reduce the death benefit and cash surrender value.
