Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: LNC) announced today that its employees have raised approximately $1.1 million for United Way organizations across the country during its annual month-long campaign, which took place in October. Lincoln Financial’s 9,000 employees were invited to participate in the campaign, a tradition that spans three decades and is an extension of the company’s philanthropic efforts – through the Lincoln Financial Foundation – to enhance local communities. The total of $1,099,418 exceeds last year’s sum of $1,071,927 by nearly $28,000.

“Year after year, our employees display their commitment to United Way organizations and their local communities through overwhelming financial support and volunteerism efforts,” said Dennis R. Glass, president and CEO of Lincoln Financial Group. “Donating more than $1 million again this year is no small feat, and I am extremely proud of our employees’ dedication to giving back and helping those who need it most.”

From October 6 – 31, each of Lincoln Financial’s nine key city office locations, including Atlanta, Concord, N.H., Fort Wayne, Ind., Greensboro, N.C., Hartford, Conn., Omaha, Neb., Philadelphia, Radnor, Pa. and Rolling Meadows, Ill., coordinated various fundraising activities such as online auctions, golf outings, basket raffles and bake sales. In addition, all employees had the opportunity to make one-time contributions and ongoing payroll deductions and submit pledges.

“At United Way, we work to provide our neighbors with the building blocks of a successful life – a quality education from cradle to career, a family-sustaining income and good health,” said Anthony J. Conti, interim president and CEO, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, which serves the region where Lincoln Financial’s corporate headquarters are located. “With the support of our corporate partners like Lincoln Financial Group, we are able to create even more impact in the lives of so many in need. We’re grateful for the generosity of the employees at Lincoln Financial because when we work together to improve education, income and health at a community level, we all benefit.”

Funds raised from Lincoln Financial’s campaign will support the respective United Way organizations in each key city area. Included are: United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Granite United Way, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, United Way of Greater Greensboro, United Way of Allen County, United Way Midlands, United Way of Illinois and United Way of Greater Atlanta.

Lincoln Financial’s United Way campaign supplements the year-round efforts of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, which donates $10 million annually to nonprofit organizations focused on youth education, human services, economic and workforce development and the arts that are located in communities where Lincoln Financial has a strong business presence.
