Local Nonprofits Receive Nearly $160,000 in Grants

PHILADELPHIA, December 17, 2012 - Grants from Lincoln Financial Foundation are helping local nonprofits provide workforce education, build literacy and stimulate economic development in Philadelphia. Ready, Willing and Able received $25,000 for its Career Development program. As a 70-bed transitional housing facility, Ready, Willing and Able provides a 10- to 12-month multi-phased program that helps homeless and formerly incarcerated and/or recovering addicted men overcome barriers to employment and achieve independent lifestyles. Enrollment is voluntary, and each trainee agrees to live onsite, give up all public assistance, and participate in relapse prevention workshops and mandatory random drug-testing twice a week.
