MILPITAS, CA - Augus t 27, 2014 - Linear Technology Corporation announces the H- and MP-grade vers ions of the
LTC3853, a triple output s ynchronous s tep-down s witching regulator controller. This device operates over a 4.5V to
24V input voltage range, can produce output currents up to 20A per phas e with output voltages ranging from 0.8V to
13.5V at up to 95% efficiency. Thes e H- and MP-grade vers ions are guaranteed over operating junction tem peratures from -40°C to 150°C and -55°C to 150°C, res pectively.
The LTC3853 has powerful 1.1 Ohm on-chip MOSFET gate drivers . A cons tant-frequency current m ode architecture allows a s electable fixed or s ynchronized frequency from 250kHz to 750kHz. Power los s and s upply nois e are m inim ized by operating the three s tages 120° out-of-phas e. Output current s ens ing is accom plis hed by m eas uring the voltage drop acros s the output inductor (DCR) or by us ing an optional s ens e res is tor. Current foldback lim its MOSFET heat dis s ipation during s hort-circuit and overload conditions . In addition, the LTC3853 has adjus table s oft- s tart or tracking. Selectable Burs t Mode® operation, puls e s kipping or continuous inductor current m odes are us er controlled to optim ize light load efficiency.
The LTC3853 features a precis ion 0.8V reference with an accuracy of ±1.25% over a -55°C to 150°C operating tem perature range. With up to 98% duty cycle, the LTC3853 has a very low dropout voltage, a us eful feature for extending run tim es in battery-powered applications . The LTC3853 is available in a therm ally enhanced
