19 April 2017 ANNOUNCEMENT Lithium Australia's Gascoyne Project tenure granted 800 km north from Perth, Western Australia

Lithium Australia (ASX: LIT) together with its wholly owned subsidiary, Lithophile Pty Ltd, has title to substantial areas prospective for lithium mineralization, in the Gascoyne Province of Western Australia (LIT ASX release 25 July 2016) . Five exploration licences which make up the "Gascoyne Project" have now been granted (Figure 1). The Gascoyne Project lies approximately 800 km north from Perth, Western Australia.

The project area lies along strike and adjacent to the Nardoo Pegmatite District and is spatially associated with peraluminous S-type granitoids. These are the possible source of the extensive pegmatites of the district; Thirty Three and Durlacher Supersuites. Known lithium, rubidium, and niobium geochemical anomalies as well as tantalum, tungsten and tin occurrences occur within the Gascoyne Project. These have not been explored in recent times and will be the focus of the LIT's preliminary geological reconnaissance.

A GIS data package of all open file geophysical and geological data was assembled in November 2016 by Southern Geoscience Consultants (SGC) and enabled LIT to generate targets for ground geological reconnaissance and sampling on most of LIT's WA projects. It is currently anticipated that SGC's GIS data package will generate additional targets for the Gascoyne Project.

The application of state-of-the-art geophysics and geochemistry provides a great opportunity to evaluate a neglected geological environment which has a high probability of containing the fertile granites which are elsewhere the source of hard-rock lithium deposits, including pegmatites and greisens.

Managing director, Adrian Griffin said:

"The Gascoyne has many of the attributes of WA's other emerging lithium centres. The area has been a focus of past rare metal exploration, but its lithium potential has been ignored. The project is an important part of LIT's long-term strategy to procure alternative lithium sources to feed its versatile, 100% owned Sileach™ processing technology.
