Logica provides management platform for new network of electric charging stations in Luxembourg

Logica is going to support the company Estonteco from Luxembourg with the rollout of electric charging points. Meaning that in the coming years several hundred charging points are expected to be installed throughout Luxembourg; the first series of charging points will already be put in operation in 2012. Logica is responsible for delivering the central 24/7 IT services on which the management of the charging infrastructure relies. After the Netherlands and Germany, Logica will also become a key player for electric vehicle services in a third country. In Belgium there is currently running a pilot with a few charging points.

Logica developed the Charge Point Interactive Management System (CiMS) which allows the central management of various charging points from different manufacturers and ensures safe customer identification. In the Netherlands, Logica has been supporting the massive rollout of charging points using CiMS led by e-laad.nl; the thousandth charging point was recently installed. In addition, Logica provides CiMS and the associated services in the Stadtwerke Düsseldorf for the rollout of electric cars in this German metropolis.

Rob Leijn, Managing Director of the Commercial Sector at Logica Netherlands, says: 'In order to make electric vehicles a success, an international network of charging points is required. This assignment in Luxembourg is another step in that direction. Next to that, this is also a recognition of our contribution to innovative and sustainable mobility.'

Fréderic-Michael Foeteler, Founder and CEO of Estonteco adds: 'With Logica's experience in the rollout of a large network for electric charging stations and with their proven capabilities in application development and systems management we are convinced that we found a strong partner who will support us in delivering innovative, borderless and always-on services for all drivers of electric vehicles. It does not matter what kind of car it is and where they would like to charge their vehicle. '
