Lonmin PlcLonmin Scores an Industry Safety RecordLonmin Plc’s Rowland Shaft situated in the North West Province achieved an industry record on 8 July 2011 of 12 million fall-of-ground fatality-free shifts and one million fatality-free shifts, a safety effort spanning over 10 years. Celebrations of this achievement were held at the Wonderskop stadium in Rustenburg on 18 August
2011.
Larry Dietrich, Vice President, Mining of Rowland and Newman Shafts, said the achievement was a direct result of Lonmin’s Integrated Safety Strategy which focuses on lead-indicators and emphasises proactive behaviour and the Company’s focus on creating a culture of safe production, operational excellence and innovation.
