PRESS RELEASE
LOTTOMATICA GROUP SUBSIDIARY GTECH CORPORATION TO INTRODUCE GEMINI™ INSTANT-TICKET VENDING MACHINES TO NEW VENDING MACHINE CUSTOMER SWISSLOS INTERKANTONALE LANDESLOTTERIE
ROME (Italy) and PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (U.S.) - December 9, 2011 - Lottomatica Group S.p.A. announced that its subsidiary GTECH Corporation has signed a contract with Swisslos Interkantonale Landeslotterie in Switzerland to provide GTECH's Gemini™ Instant-Ticket Vending Machines (ITVMs). The ITVMs are being installed in the fourth quarter of 2011 throughout 20 cantons in Switzerland.
"We are pleased to introduce the Gemini to our newest ITVM customer, Swisslos," said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. "Many lottery customers find self-service ticket dispensing solutions appealing as they provide additional points of purchase and greater convenience for lottery players, as well as allow penetration into venues that are otherwise not serviced. We look forward to building our relationship and sharing our self-service best practices with Swisslos to help attract new players and increase impulse sales, which will benefit the lottery, its retailers, and good causes."
Gemini will be installed in retail locations and shopping malls within the cantons of Switzerland where Swisslos currently offers games. Gemini offers a buying experience that is fun, intuitive, and inviting with its innovative and easy-to-use player interface. Moreover, the Gemini solution for Swisslos will be equipped with a bill and coin acceptor, a more widely-accepted configuration in Europe. The machines will be used for dispensing instant tickets initially, however, Swisslos will have the option to add the online Quick Pick element Gemini offers at a later date.
Currently offering online, instant and sports betting games, Swisslos is and has been the lottery operator of the German-speaking part of Switzerland for more than
70 years. In 2010, Swisslos transferred funds to more than 8,000 Good Causes projects and public institutions.
GTECH Corporation currently supplies approximately 50,000 self-service lottery product solutions in more than 30 jurisdictions around the world, including eight
jurisdictions throughout Europe. In addition, GTECH Printing Corporation, a subsidiary of GTECH, is a provider of instant-ticket games for Swisslos.
