NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept . 24, 2015)-The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has selected a home featuring LP TechShield® Radiant Barrier Sheathing as its outstanding LEED single-family home of the year. The LEED for Homes Awards recognize housing projects, builders and developers that demonstrate leadership and innovation in sustainable homebuilding.

The 3,400 square-foot LEED Gold home built by Mokulua High Performance Builders in Kailua, Hawaii, is the first in the state to be certified under the latest version of the USGBC's LEED for Homes program. The house is also among the first Hawaiian homes with the Energy Star version 3 certification.

According to a release by the USGBC, 'This project includes many innovative technical strategies, such as a fully enveloped radiant barrier from foundation to roof, which serves to manage one of the most prevalent risks (UV radiation) associated with home durability in Hawaii.'

LP TechShield Radiant Barrier Sheathing was selected for the roof of the Hawaiian project as it features a durable layer of aluminum that blocks up to 97% of the radiant heat in the roof panel from entering into the structure, reducing attic temperatures by up to 30 degrees and lowering monthly cooling costs.

'With LP TechShield, we've been able to create sustainable building solutions that are both innovative and practical,' said Lorraine Bittles, OSB segment marketing manager for LP Building Products. 'We are committed to sustainability at LP, so we are extremely proud to be a part of an award-winning, green initiative that is setting the bar high for homebuilding practices that support energy conservation.'

Backed by a twenty-year transferable limited warranty, LP TechShield has been installed in more than 1.5 million homes in the United States. For more information visit www.LPCorp.com.
